The Star was born from a simple idea: to create a top-speed, perfectly tracking SUP board that still offers enough stability to relax and enjoy the scenery. The result is a board with unique performance characteristics, enabling skilled paddlers to reach average speeds of 9 km/h and top speeds exceeding 10 km/h. Thanks to its excellent directional stability, even paddlers with modest technique can take around 12 strokes per side before switching. Premium Technology and Construction

Despite its competitive price, the Saimaa SUP Star makes no compromises on quality. Every technical feature you’d expect from a flagship model is included. At its core lies Machine Weave Fusion Dropstitch, a premium woven material that makes the board lighter and stiffer — saving up to 2 kg in weight while easily withstanding pressures up to 25 psi.

For even greater rigidity, the Star features 23 cm wide carbon stringers running along both the deck and bottom. The result is an ultra-stiff construction (class-leading stiffness verified by supboardermag.com) that remains solid even under heavier riders and in choppy conditions — channeling your energy into forward motion instead of board flex.

Designed for Speed and Tracking

Directional stability is crucial for long-distance touring and maintaining high average speeds, as each paddle-side change momentarily slows the board. The Star maximizes its 427 cm waterline by using a flat rocker, putting nearly the entire length to work for tracking and glide efficiency.

In addition, a 34 cm long, 0.8 cm deep front fin helps keep the course straight — easily allowing up to 12 strokes per side before switching.

At higher speeds (above 6 km/h), custom-engineered water-breaking tail deflectors, developed and tested in Finland, reduce drag by 10–15% compared to standard boards. These tail channels minimize vortex drag and help the board release cleanly from the water, enhancing acceleration and maintaining top speed. Even at slower speeds, they do not hinder glide. With this advanced hydrodynamics, the Star rivals race boards in performance — yet remains stable and easy enough for intermediate paddlers to enjoy comfortably.

Functional Design Details

The board’s superior features are completed with heat-welded seams for perfect airtightness and durability. A hard plastic sharp-nose tip cuts through waves with minimal resistance, while dual cargo bungee systems (front and rear) offer plenty of space for gear during long tours.

The center carry handle includes a built-in paddle holder for convenient breaks, and the kicktail pad at the rear enables quick pivot turns for advanced paddlers. Rear bungees can be easily removed using a quick-release system when practicing turns or racing.
